Q: You also sang about love or gentle themes as well. I understood your character as very peaceful and loving person. Do you consider it that way?
A:
I'm a peaceful warrior. I think there is a part in me that it is a fighter, you know, there is no way that I could have gotten where I am right now without that. Because being blind, so many people say you can't do something. Especially when I was a kid, there was a people telling me you can't do this, you can't do that. They could only see me now. I mean, so yes, I'm peaceful, but also very adamant about the things that I believe in. I believe in good music and I believe in talking over fighting. There is always something to talk about until you start pulling out the guns. And then the talking stops. But you have to have the guns. Just don't use it.
Q: I was amazed. I was watching your interview on TV, and you were saying, "Even losing your eyesight could be blessing." Because considering what you are doing now, you can do much more. That's really positive and strong statement I thought. What made you think that way really positively and very strongly?
A:
I think the first thing about that is that one of the things that can make you stronger as a person and give you character is how your family treats you when you are young. The really important people in my life that I loved and that I look up to had always told me that I was capable and able to do anything that I wanted to do. That's really important, because if your family is telling and saying you are stupid or you can't do something, that's one of the worst things they could do, that's as bad as if they beat you. That's one thing, and then you know it's a blessing because it gives me a perspective, being blind gives me a perspective that's unique. And one of the things that I try to explore more with this record is writing from the point of view of a blind person using metaphors that like I said that reflect the way that I experience the world rather than borrowing sort of visual metaphors. So the more that I know is the example that the lyrics and the more that I know. There is lots of metaphor based on a touch, and smell and taste, and sound. (the end)
