Q: Sorry, it's odd to allow this question to be the last one, but I was going to ask you about your boyfriend. How much does it help you, I mean to have a boyfriend who has the same profession as yours?

A: Well, I guess when I was younger, I never expected that. I thought I would probably end up with someone who wasn't a dancer. I don't know why. But anyway, Ethan is such an extraordinary guy and he is so complex. He can be so funny and then also so profound another moment. For him to be a dancer, not just be a dancer but such an inspiring and great artist, is just an added bonus. It's really spectacular and it also means that we can travel around the world together and dance. And we understand each other completely in terms of how much focus it requires us to do what we do. It's a joy.

Q: Do you talk much about ballet in private?

A: I guess we can't help bringing it up (laughter), but it's been good because he's always been supportive but never over… sorry, I guess what I want to say is that we each also have the freedom to explore our own way without being too influenced by each other in a way, although he is the love of my life. He's just such a great guy. Have you met him?

Q: No, I haven't. There must be a fine line between being too influential and being engaged.

A: I guess what I was trying to say was that he's always been inspiring and incredibly supportive but he has probably made a point not to be too influential and let me find my own way, which is good because he is six years older than me so, when I was staring out, he could have maybe told me things to do or something, or been more like a coach or something like that, but there was never that relationship.

Q: That explains a lot. Many people easily cross that line and become preachy.

A: Exactly, but he is not like that. He's always incredibly generous but I think he always knew that you have to find your own path. I'm so grateful for that, too, because now we can grow as individuals but then also together.
